Aprovecha la luz natural

La fotografía de productos a menudo se ve como una captura de imágenes realmente técnica realizada en grandes estudios con una elegante iluminación estroboscópica y una postproducción detallada. Allí no hay espacio para la luz natural.

Pero eso no es del todo cierto. El trabajo de estudio puede garantizar resultados consistentes de alta gama, sí. Pero eso no significa que no pueda obtener grandes resultados con la luz más simple que existe.
Entonces, si tienes productos que quieres vender y quieres fotografiarlos tú mismo, aquí tienes algunos consejos sobre cómo hacerlo de una manera realmente sencilla utilizando solo luz natural.

Imágenes de fondo blanco liso

Este estilo de imagen se utiliza principalmente en el comercio electrónico y generalmente se conoce como Fotografía Packshot. Este término proviene de la época en que se realizaron estas imágenes para el empaque del producto.
Hoy en día, el término Packshot se usa ampliamente para las imágenes de productos fotografiadas con un fondo blanco sin costuras.

La imagen de arriba puede parecer una configuración de estudio complicada, pero de hecho fue fotografiada con solo luz natural brillando a través de una ventana, un difusor y un fondo blanco impecable.

La mesa de tiro de acrílico que ve en la imagen de arriba se puede reemplazar fácilmente con una hoja de papel blanca. Y el difusor grande se puede reemplazar por cualquier paño blanco translúcido o papel de calco.
Esta configuración es simple y asequible. Y los resultados son bastante parecidos, si no mejores, que los resultados que obtendría con la iluminación de estudio.
Este efecto de luz envolvente se obtiene mediante la luz solar que dispersa el difusor que actúa como una gran caja de luz. Ilumina uniformemente el producto y proyecta sombras suaves debajo.
Es importante considerar la profundidad de campo en este tipo de imágenes. Para tener un rango de enfoque más amplio y mantener la nitidez en todo el producto, configuré la apertura en f / 16, la velocidad de obturación en 1/60 e ISO 400.
Esta imagen debe verse como un ID de producto completo y, por lo tanto, debe mostrar la mayor cantidad de información posible. El posicionamiento y encuadre del producto también es crucial para obtener buenos resultados. Recomiendo encarecidamente usar un trípode para una mejor precisión en el ángulo de captura.
Siempre trate de posicionar su producto de una manera que demuestre que es multidimensional. Esto significa que la cámara debe estar ligeramente por encima del producto y su imagen debe tener cierta perspectiva mostrando una vista frontal y lateral.
La temperatura del color es difícil de controlar con luz natural. Una carta de colores es un buen punto de referencia para el proceso de edición posterior.

Este estilo de imagen no es nuevo. Pero recientemente se ha vuelto muy popular y de moda en las redes sociales. En consecuencia, el mercado de la fotografía de productos también lo ha recuperado.
Consiste en exponer el producto y eventuales atrezzo con una agradable disposición sobre un fondo sólido. Y luego fotografiarlo directamente desde arriba.

Aunque esto tiende a crear una imagen plana y algo aburrida, puede utilizar la composición a su favor.
Tome la imagen de arriba, por ejemplo. Los zapatos se muestran en la vista superior y lateral, lo que le brinda al comprador potencial una vista completa y detallada de la forma del producto.
La textura y las características del material también se ven reforzadas por la suave luz lateral dorada natural. Esto crea un ambiente cálido y agradable.

A menudo verá este estilo de imagen en joyería y fotografía de relojes. Colocas el producto colocado sobre un fondo texturizado y lo fotografias desde un corto alcance. El foco está en un punto principal y el resto de la imagen aparece borrosa.

El pronóstico del tiempo, la posición del sol, los accesorios y la elección del equipo son probablemente las cosas más importantes en su lista. Sin embargo, dependiendo del tipo de sesión, es posible que también deba tener en cuenta muchas otras cosas.

La fuerte luz directa hace que la imagen sea muy contrastada y que las sombras sean duras y oscuras.
Ese podría ser un aspecto deseado en un contexto diferente. En esta imagen en particular, sin embargo, buscaba un aspecto de luz más suave.
Una forma rápida de controlar la luz es agregar un difusor. Esto reduce la dureza de la luz y crea el efecto que puede ver en la siguiente imagen:

La imagen de luz difusa es en general más atractiva debido a su apariencia más suave. Esto agrega valor a la fotografía de su producto.

Conclusión

La luz natural frente a la luz de estudio es siempre una discusión controvertida. Y ambas partes defenderán con avidez sus opiniones.
Los usuarios de luz natural dirán que la luz natural es la única luz «verdadera». Y los defensores de la luz de estudio a menudo afirman que los fotógrafos de luz natural simplemente no saben cómo usar el flash. Y sigue y sigue y sigue.
